Sun Devils v Irish 2014 football game back on

Arizona State Athletic Director Steve Patterson told me in April that he would stand up to Notre Dame “all the way to the steps of the courthouse” to make sure the 2014 matchup between the two schools in Tempe would be played. Turns out he won’t have to make the trip to the judge. The two schools have announced that the game will be played on November 8th, 2014. “We’re pleased that Notre Dame was able to resolve its scheduling issues in a way that allows it to play at Sun Devil Stadium in 2014,” Patterson said in a statement.

“Our entire Sun Devil family-season ticket holders, fans, students, alumni-and our entire community here in the Valley have been looking forward to playing Notre Dame in Tempe since the original agreement was signed in 2008.”

The two schools have canceled a game in 2017 that was to be played in South Bend, Ind.

ASU was livid over the Irish trying to pull out of the 2014 game for many reasons, but the biggest being the Sun Devils home scheduled for 14 doesn’t have USC or Arizona on it. If Notre Dame and been allowed to walk away from the game, there was grave concern over season ticket sales for the season.
