Arizona United SC named Frank Yallop as their head coach and president of soccer operations, per a press release.
Yallop will replace Michael Dellorusso as the team enters its third year of play.
The new head coach brings 13 years of MLS experience to the United. He was named Coach of the Year twice, and led the the San Jose Earthquakes to two MLS Cups. Yallop was also the the Canadian National team’s head coach in the 2004 CONCACAF World Cup qualifying rounds.
“Entering our third season of play, we wanted to show our fans and our players that we were committed to putting a winning and championship product on the field, and we couldn’t think of a better way to communicate it than hiring someone like Frank Yallop,” Arizona United SC co-chairmen Kyle Eng and Brett Johnson said in a press release.
“Frank’s experience and success speaks for itself and he’ll immediately raise the bar and put the rest of the league on notice that Arizona United SC is serious about being the best club in USL.”
Most recently, Yallop was the head coach of the Chicago Fire from 2014-15. He ranks fifth all-time in victories in the MLS with 171 wins.
