Barkley Hoping Saturday Night Just The Beginning

Few professional athletes have followed the “sweet science” as closely as Charles Barkley.

The Phoenix Suns’ legend will be in Las Vegas this weekend for the much-anticipated Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino Saturday night.

Regardless of the outcome, the outspoken NBA on TNT analyst hopes this fight bucks an ugly trend which he feels has brought down the sport over the past several decades.

“I’m hoping it’s a great fight and they do it again,” Barkley explained to Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a recent phone interview. “It really bothers me…Muhammed Ali and [Joe] Frazier fought three times. When was the last time you saw great fighters have like an epic series? They don’t do that anymore. They fight a guy one time and it’s over.”

Regardless, Sir Charles says the weekend can’t get here soon enough.

“I’ve been to a lot of sporting events,” he said. “The juice and the energy for a big fight is crazy….I can’t wait.”
