Brady’s Bunch: ASU QB Preparing For Future

Arizona Sports News online

Brady White is enjoying college life.

Even if it’s come a little early.

One of the crown jewels of Todd Graham’s 2015 recruiting class could be back at Hart High School in Newhall, California enjoying the second semester of his senior year but instead he’s calling Tempe home as an early enrollee ramping up to spring practice.

“I’m really excited about the future,” the four-star recruit told Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat in a phone interview Wednesday. “I’m thankful and blessed with this opportunity to be playing with these players around me and for this coaching staff. The future is bright here at ASU.”

Incumbent senior-to-be Mike Bercovici, by all accounts, will be under center when the Devils take the field for their season opener against Texas A&M in Houston but expect understudy White to be soaking it all in as the 19-year-old learns and adjusts to Mike Norvell’s up-tempo, offense.

White also has a competitive fire and work-ethic coaches crave, especially behind center.

“I’m very confident in my abilities,” he explained. “I think I’m a well-rounded quarterback, yet I’m still going to be working on everything I can to be the best I can be.”

His game has been compared to another Valley quarterback who, coincidentally, will be on the opposite sideline in early September.

“He reminds me an awful lot of [former Desert Mountain High star] Kyle Allen,” ESPN National Recruiting Director Tom Luginbill told Sports360AZ.com last week. “He’s going to be a precision passer. The guy is going to get the ball out of his hands. He is a really good anticipator of routes so it’s hard to sack him. It’s hard to get in his face.”

White selected ASU last May and had offers from a number of high-profile programs like Oregon, Nebraska, Penn State, Arizona, Louisville and Tennessee among others.

A Valley native, Eric has had a passion for the Arizona sports scene since an early age. He has covered some of the biggest events including Super Bowls, national championships and the NBA and MLB playoffs in his near 20 years in local media.
