Brandon Huffman Reviews Prep Ratings on AZ-Natives at NFL Combine

Evaluating high school football prospects is not easy, and National Recruiting Editor for 247Sports Brandon Huffman is among the best. With Arizona strongly represented at the NFL Combine this year, Huffman revisited his evaluations for Christian Kirk, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Oliver and Levi Wallace from their prep days.

Christian Kirk – Five-star ATH, Saguaro High School, Class of 2015

One of the most electric players to ever come out of Arizona, Kirk flew onto Huffman’s radar as a freshman. Huffman fought to make Kirk a five-star recruit. Safe to say Huffman guessed right on the Saguaro playmaker…

Mark Andrews – Four-star WR, Desert Mountain High School, Class of 2014

According to Huffman, Mark Andrews didn’t see himself as a tight end but a wide receiver. Whatever you want to call him, Andrews was a nightmare for opposing defenses in the Big 12 and earned himself the Mackey Award, awarded to the top tight end in college football.

Isaiah Oliver – Three-star CB, Brophy College Prep, Class of 2015

Oliver did just about everything as a wide receiver, cornerback and return man for the Brophy Broncos his senior year. He had the next-level size, good character and filled up a stat-sheet, but only had one Power 5 offer, the Colorado Buffaloes. After a decorated career in Boulder and helping build Colorado’s program to new heights since joining the Pac-12, Oliver proved a lot of people wrong, including Huffman.

Levi Wallace – No rating, Tucson High School, Class of 2014

The Tucson defensive back went from walk-on to Alabama to scholarship player to starter on the national champions. Was he on the radar of Huffman or even my co-host Jason Jewell, who owns Arizona, to be tabbed as the next great SEC defensive back? Not really.
