The Diamondbacks lost their first series of the year against the Washington Nationals and have dropped five straight games.
Thursday May 10th: Nationals win 2-1
Friday May 11th: Nationals win 3-1
Saturday May 12th: Nationals win 2-1
Sunday May 13th: Nationals win 6-4
Quiet Bats:
The Diamondbacks lineup has been quiet the past few weeks, and the Washington Nationals took advantage. Aside from a few late-inning runs from the Snakes in the final game of the series, the club had put up about one run a game. In the case of Thursday’s game, Zack Greinke was the only batter to drive in a run. Paul Goldschmidt went 1/15 in four games and Steven Souza Jr. went 1/14.
Bad Luck Balk:
In Thursday’s game, Archie Bradley came in relief of a dominant Zack Greinke with a runner on second and a 1-0. After the runner moved to third, Bradley tried to pull of a pickoff play but was charged with a balk, scoring the run. The Nationals won that game in extra innings 2-1.

Properly-Rated:
Moments before Bryce Harper hit an absolute shot to right field off of Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley, us members of the media heard a few fans chanting “overrated.” My next thought was, “This isn’t going to end well for that guy.” Harper’s bomb left such little doubt that right fielder Steven Souza Jr. was stationary as he watched it go out.

Matt Koch, Greinke:
Despite the sweep, both Greinke and Matt Koch threw the ball well.
Greinke: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 6 K
Koch: 8 IP, 7 H 3 ER, 1 BB, 3K
Koch’s opponents for his first four starts this year have been Ben Lively, Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. The Diamondbacks are 3-1 in games he starts.
What’s Next
The Diamondbacks stay home for three more games in the homestand against the Milwaukee Brewers. Patrick Corbin, Zack Greinke and Matt Koch are scheduled to toe the rubber for the Snakes.
