Throughout the NFL season Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell joins Brad Cesmat every Tuesday at 12:15 for ‘Crunch Time with Calais’ on XTRA Sports 910 and Pros2Preps.com. Each week he shares with us his ‘Calais Keys’ for the Cardinals next opponent.
The Cards (5-9) broke their nine-game losing streak Sunday defeating the Detroit Lions (4-10) 38-10. Campbell led the Red Birds in tackles with eight (four for loss) and a sack. This week they’ll look to make it two in a row when they welcome the Chicago Bears (8-6) to Glendale.
Come ready to play at a high level: “They’re really in a situation where they need to win to get to the playoffs. This is a big game for them. We have to match their intensity. They’re going to come in and try to run the ball because we haven’t been able to stop the run a whole lot in the last few weeks with the exception of last week. I’m sure with the two running backs they have [Michael Bush and Matt Forte] they’re going to try to establish the run game and they’re going to try to score some points early because they know we don’t play well from behind.”
Collapse the pocket: “We gotta try get pressure on Jay Cutler. He’s one of those guys that when he gets hit, he gets rattled. We gotta get pressure on him because if you let him sit back there he will pick you apart because he is a good quarterback.”
Set the tempo early defensively: “We gotta make sure that we try to get a couple turnovers, especially early that could change the game. We usually win when we get a turnover early in the game.”
