Blake Martinez filled the stat sheet over the past two years for the Stanford Cardinal.
The Canyon del Oro alum totaled 243 tackles in that time, a team-high, and led a defense found themselves in the Rose Bowl multiple times over the past few years.
He is now a fourth round pick of the Green Bay Packers.
Martinez appeared in 51 games for the Cardinal, and he made his presence known throughout the Pac-12.
Martinez is similarly built to Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright, and Pro Football Focus’ Steve Palazzolo explains what Martinez needs to do to be successful at the next level.
“Martinez doesn’t stand out in any one area, and he doesn’t recognize plays as quickly as Wright, so that’s one area he can improve. If he can diagnose plays quicker, it will help him maximize his skill-set,” Palazzolo said.
Martinez joins fellow Pac-12 defensive star Kenny Clark and fellow Arizona-native Kyler Fackrell in the Packers’ draft class.
