Rosen, McCoy and Leftwich. They aren’t a law firm, but they are an interesting trifecta.
When quarterbacks fail at an alarming rate in making the jump from college to the pros, you have to wonder, why? From my view, it has everything to do with the surroundings. The NFL isn’t brain surgery in this regard. List the number of top flight quarterbacks that have failed in an organization like Cleveland over the last twenty years, and I’d say it had to do with the makeup of the organization. This brings us to our hometown heroes on the gridiron. IMO the Cardinals have most everything in place for Josh Rosen to succeed in the NFL. If it doesn’t work out, it’s going to be on Rosen, not the Cardinals.
There’s no reason to throw Rosen to the wolves on day one if the offensive coordinator(McCoy) and qb coach(Leftwich) feel as though the rookie needs to hold a clipboard and wear a ball cap rather than a helmet. Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon have been in the League long enough to give Rosen some ramp-up time watching from the sidelines. Rosen will have Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson in his playbook. I also think that having a quarterback who has a red-ass over his fall in the draft, is a very, very good thing. Who knows, Rosen could be the 2018 version of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson who stepped right up and made an immediate impact…
If you need a break from the NFL Draft, you could do worse than dropping in on “Avengers, Infinity Wars” for two and a half hours. Story-line is a little light, but there are laugh-out-loud lines and of course some epic fight scenes. It’s not meant to win Best Picture of the Year, but it’s work the price of admission and a good distraction during the 4th and 5th round of the draft…
Arizona State football is in good position to land the Chandler high school connection of QB Jacob Conover and TE Brayden Liebrock. The two will be visiting ASU and would make a great package deal for head coach Herm Edwards…
