Wednesday morning the Arizona Cardinals announced the passing of team owner Bill Bidwill.

“Our dad passed away today the same way he lived his life: peacefully, with grace, dignity and surrounded by family and loved ones,” Cards President Michael Bidwill said of his father in a release through the team. “We are overwhelmed by the support our family has received, not only now but throughout the latest chapter of his life. We are especially grateful to the nurses, doctors and other caregivers whose endless kindness and compassion in recent years have made our dad’s life so meaningful.”
Bidwill, a one-time ball boy for the team when they played in Chicago, spent over 80 years with the franchise.

While well-known for his understated nature and a preference for staying out of the spotlight, “Mr. B” was frequently recognized for his contributions and accomplishments as Cardinals owner. In 2017, he was enshrined in the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame which honors those who have made significant contributions to state’s athletics community. He also spearheaded bringing the first Super Bowl to the Valley in 1996.

He’s survived by five children, 10 grand children and one great-grandchild.
