Cardinals and Patrick Peterson agree on five year extension

Arizona Sports News online

It has somewhat been the elephant in the room in regards to Patrick Peterson as he has been saying without saying on twitter that it is time for him to get paid. He saw fellow corner backs Richard Sherman and Joe Hayden accomplish that this offseason and on Tuesday night, it was Peterson’s turn.

After being named to the Pro Bowl in 2013, Peterson became just the seventh player in NFL history to be selected to three Pro Bowls prior to his 24th birthday and just the second player in Cardinals history (Hall of Fame HB Ollie Matson) ever to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three NFL seasons. He also joined Hall of Famer Rod Woodson as the only NFL players ever to be selected to the Pro Bowl as both a defender and kick returner. We have already learned during Cardinals Training Camp this season that his days as a kick returner look to be close to over.

More on Twitter from past and present teammates of Peterson:
