Five game losing steaks suck. That’s why fans are getting into finger pointing mode.
So many are putting the blame on members of the coaching staff. But at the end of the day, games are won and lost by the guys on the field.
There is no doubt in my mind that the last two losses are on the players and no one else. For two games in a row, you consistently see defensive players right where they are supposed to be to make tackles but are not converting. Stupid penalties on crucial plays, just like the 3rd down offsides on Quinton Groves against Green Bay have happened far too often. And Early Doucet and company with their dropped passes when wide open.
Penalties, missed tackles and dropped balls aren’t a product of coaching, it’s a complete lack of execution by the players. Finally after Sundays loss to the Packers, Ken Whisenhunt made it clear that the players will be held accountable. He mentioned that he doesn’t care who it is, if you’re going to make all of these mistakes on the field, you’re going to be on the bench.
Good for Ken Whisenhunt.
You and you’re coaching staff can only put the players in position enough to make a play so often to just have them completely fail to execute.
Look what the first month of the season looked like with the players executing on the field.
Sure the coaches will take heat while on a terrible losing streak. That’s part of the job description. But the players are the ones that need to take a good hard look in the mirror during a bye week an realize it’s on them. Not those standing on the sidelines putting them in position to succeed.
