Arizona Sports News online

The Cardinals continued their secondary purge on Wednesday by releasing free safety Kerry Rhodes.

The team saves $6 million in cap space by making this move. Rhodes was set to make $4.5 million in salary this season, plus a reporting and workout bonus of $1.5 million.

Rhodes started 15 games for the Cardinals last season and led all Cardinals defensive backs with 69 tackles. Rhodes also had four interceptions, 12 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one sack.

Rhodes played for the New York Jets for five years prior to his arrival in Arizona in 2010. In his three years with the Cardinals, Rhodes started 38 games, had 191 tackles, four sacks, 27 passes defensed and eight interceptions.
