Cardinals sign S Johnson to three-year deal

Arizona Sports News online

The Arizona Cardinals let Adrian Wilson go this past Friday.

On Tuesday, they locked down his likely replacement, Rashad Johnson, signing him to a three-year deal.

Johnson gained a lot of buzz around the NFL recently, with teams like the Eagles interested in signing him, so it was imperative that the Cardinals jumped first before other teams leaped on Johnson.

A third-round pick in 2009 out of Alabama, Johnson played in 15 games last season for Arizona and had three starts. He had a career-high two interceptions, 15 tackles and a fumble recovery. He also had 11 tackles on special teams. One of his interceptions he returned 53 yards for a touchdown against the Lions on Dec. 16.

In his four years with the team, Johnson has played in 57 games (14 starts), and has tallied 133 tackles, three interceptions (one for TD), 10 passes defensed and the fumble recovery.
