Former Corona High Star Shines In Valley Return

Saben Lee didn’t need to ask for directions when he arrived at Wells Fargo Arena this weekend. The Vanderbilt University guard has walked the curved halls and down the ramp to Ned Wulk Court many times growing up in the area before starring at Corona del Sol High School.

Sunday afternoon, before family and friends, the true freshman Lee scored a team-high 24 points, while dishing out a game-high six assists and registering four steals in a losing effort as unbeaten ASU (10-0) pulled away in the second half for a 76-64 win.

“It was pretty weird,” Lee said afterwards. “Knowing that I watched a lot games here growing up and then finally playing against [ASU].  It was a cool experience.”

Lee’s big game is likely just the start of things to come for the four-star prospect who picked the Commodores over Stanford, Florida State, Louisville, Kansas and many others.

“He’s shooting the ball much better,” Vanderbilt head coach Bryce Drew said Sunday. “He’s making much better decisions on when to drive and when to pass.”
