The Chandler National South Little League team is in the thick of the regional qualifier for the Little League World Series out in San Bernadino, Calif.
On Friday afternoon they faced Northern California and what manager Ty Garrison said was “a pitcher that was good as I have seen at his age,” in Sean Lee from Northern California.
Lee held Chandler National to just two hits, as Northern California shut them out 8-0.
Garrison said Lee was clocking pitches at nearly 80 MPH from the mound.
“The pitcher from NorCal [Lee] was very strong,” Garrison said. “It was a tough way to start the tournament, but I feel we gained some confidence knowing we won’t face anyone better than him.”
Another day, another game.
Utah was next up on Chandler National’s plate on Saturday, and they got back on the winning track, defeating them 11-7. Jacob Thiele had a strong effort on the mound for Chandler National, while Tanner Garrison led the offense with three hits.
Next up for Chandler National is a contest against Nevada on Tuesday night, followed by a game against Hawaii on Wednesday afternoon.
The Nevada game has a start time of 8 p.m., while the game against Hawaii is slated for a noon start.
