Basha head coach Chris McDonald is going into his fourth season as the Bears head coach. He lead his team to a 6-3 record last season, which is the best they have had in the last three years. Now they look to build off of that momentum. They certainly have all of the talent on the field to get it done. This young team played three freshmen and six sophomores last year.
Starting at quarterback was freshman Demond Williams who burst onto the scene and impressed the state. Williams threw for 1,814 yards with 16 touchdowns and rushed for another 239 yards along with three touchdowns with his legs. As Williams enters his sophomore season and one full year of varsity under his belt, this QB is one to watch out for. And he certainly has college programs watching him as he’s earned five Division 1 scholarships from the likes of Colorado, Arizona, Central Michigan, Northern Arizona, and Florida Atlantic.
Coach McDonald told Sports360AZ that the most impressive thing about this young talent is his competitiveness.
As for leaders on the team, that’s captain James Durand. Coach McDonald expressed how Durand is the vocal leader of the team.
