Jordan HammWilliams Field quarterback CJ Tiller is using the lessons he learned in his first year as a starter to help him moving forward.
The class of 2023 signal-caller threw for just under 2,000 yards with 11 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions in eight games. It was a season of growth for Tiller and these next few years should be filled with opportunity.
The offensive line had to replace three Division I caliber offensive lineman last year and there was youth throughout the offense. The Black Hawks held their own, going 5-3 with wins over Campo Verde, Casteel, Higley, Desert Ridge and Goldwater. Had the postseason accepted its usual 16 berths rather than eight due to coronavirus restrictions, Williams Field would have been assuredly in the playoffs
Now, Tiller is building chemistry with his fellow young but experienced playmakers. Wide receiver Kyler Kasper has emerged as a big on-field and recruiting target. Sjawn Hunter, Aziya Jamison and Kaden Cloud all provide reliable options in the backfield. The offensive line has more experience and is coached under Steve Campbell, who has a rich history of developing the position.
Tiller is remaining patient with his recruitment. While he doesn’t have any offers currently, he’s been in contact with multiple Division I programs.
