Coach Analysis For Day One of MLB Draft (Part 2)

The Arizona Diamondbacks could have had a game-changing day in June when they had seven day one picks in the MLB Draft. If the Snakes are competing for the National League West over the next few years, it seems safe to assume they hit on a few of those picks. Like the game of baseball on the field, drafting usually comes with plenty of failure. It’s tough to project a player’s trajectory and health down the road.

But I wanted Diamondback fans to get familiar with these seven draft picks and talked with those who coached them and covered them.

On this episode, you’ll hear from the next group of selections: Ball State’s Drey Jameson, Oregon’s Ryne Nelson, Michigan’s Tommy Henry and Arkansas’ Dominic Fletcher. Ball State pitching coach Dustin Glant discusses Jameson’s ability to strike out batters in bunches. Oregon pitching coach Jason Dietrich talks about Ryne Nelson’s versatility. Michigan pitching coach Chris Fetter describes Henry’s crazy postseason run and how he went from the hospital one day to pitching in a Super Regional. The voice of Arkansas baseball Phil Elsen shares what Fletcher can do in the outfield both defensively and on the basepaths.
