Arizona State was dead. Flatlined. Twelve minutes remaining, Arizona was in control of the Territorial Cup, leading 40-21, but the story of the Sun Devils in 2018 came to life once again. Rather than folding their tents, the Sun Devils would rally for a 41-40 victory. “Very entertaining” was the opening line from Herm Edwards on his postgame radio interview. Arizona State played in nine-games that were decided by one score in Edwards first campaign as head coach.
Just flat stunning..
The game would come down to a Arizona field goal attempt with :17 seconds left by Josh Pollock, but it would be pushed wide right and the celebration by the maroon and gold would begin.
Eno Benjamin would run for three scores, his last one with 3:09, to give Arizona State their first, and only lead.
With the win, Arizona State improved to 7-5 and awaits their bowl game destination. With the crushing loss, Arizona finishes their season 5-7 and is not eligible for a postseason game.
N’Keal Harry said on the postgame show that he hasn’t decided what his future holds, while most observers believe that he will leave for the NFL. Will Harry decide to skip the bowl game? It wouldn’t be a surprise to me.
More to come…
