Crowned A King: Bagley Headed To Sacramento

Four years ago Marvin Bagley III arrived on the high school scene. Thursday afternoon the former Corona del Sol star burst on the NBA scene after being selected by the Sacramento Kings with the second overall pick of the NBA draft.

Bagley’s route to the Kings included stops at Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix), Sierra Canyon School (Chatsworth, CA) and finally Duke where he earned ACC Player of the Year honors in his only season in Durham. The 19-year-old averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds, while shooting over 61% from the field and close to 40% on three’s.

Bagley’s versatility on offense is expected to transition well to the NBA. A stretch four with nice range and excellent ball-handling skills, the one big concern is Bagley’s defense.

Bagley and Deandre Ayton played together at Hillcrest Academy in 2015. They became the first two picks of the 2018 draft.
