Mike Bell, D-Backs Director of Player Development:
“I think he is understanding know what it is to be a professional. To be a professional player and pitcher and what he needs to do to prepare in the offseason and in-season. It takes a lot of discipline to do it and he’s done it. He’s always thrown strikes but I think the added attention to detail is really going to help him.”

Notes:
(Updated 7/5) Cody Reed was putting up unthinkable numbers with Kane County before the organization did the right thing and moved up to Visalia. Since, he has come down to earth somewhat as batters in the California League are hitting .252 off of him unlike the .221 against him when he was with the Cougars. What made him so great early was the low walk rate which he will look to continue now at the higher level of play.
