The Arizona Diamondbacks-Colorado Rockies game on Thursday has been postponed.

The Rockies tweeted the following leading up to the game:

“After reflecting and meeting as a group, Rockies players have decided not to play today’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, standing in solidarity with athletes and sports teams against social injustice.”

The Diamondbacks tweeted the following in response:

“The big thing for us was just talking about and bringing up things that have to change right now,” Diamondbacks outfielder Jon Jay said. “There’s things that aren’t right going on right now and that’s a big message. We are all on board and we’re planning on making a donation to a cause as a group and that’s just one of the ways that we want to help out with everything that’s going on right now. We support the Rockies today in not playing and our brothers and sisters in other sports, so we’re here to support that cause that’s going on right now.”

The game is one of six Major League matchups that is postponed to support social justice after Jacob Blake was killed by police on Sunday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Games and practices have been postponed due to player protest in multiple leagues across the countries starting with the Milwaukee Bucks boycotting their playoff game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.

“We may not reach our generation or the people older than us that are on (social media) and everyone bashing us for not playing as millionaires who are entitled and all these things, but we see a bigger picture here,” Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley said. “It’s more than just one game, and it’s active. It’s moving forward and it’s about the future generation of our kids in our country and this world.”

Bradley said the team will donate their game checks to an organization to fight racism and will wear black uniforms for the remainder of their home stand.
