The stage is set for the National League Wildcard game.
After the Diamondbacks clinched their spot and home field advantage on Sunday, the Colorado Rockies clawed their way to the postseason as well. With the Milwaukee Brewers losing on Saturday, the Rockies clinched their spot.
It will be the first time in six years for the Diamondbacks, and the Colorado hasn’t experience “Rocktober” since 2009.
The Diamondbacks won the season series 11-8.
It is all but decided the Zack Greinke will throw for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. In five starts, Greinke is 2-1 with 34.1 innings, 37 strikeouts and a 3.20 ERA against Colorado. Greinke’s 34.1 innings against the Rockies is the highest total he’s thrown against an opponent this year.
While the Diamondbacks have had a week to get their ducks in a row for the postseason, manager Torey Lovullo said earlier this week the coaching staff has gone through countless roster scenarios for this one-game playoff, saying it’s “a different kind of animal.”
The Snakes and Rocks join the Los Angeles Dodgers as the three representatives of the NL West in the postseason.

The National League Wildcard kicks off on Wednesday at Chase Field at 5 p.m. PST. The winner will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series. The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals square off on the other side of the National League bracket.
