Damian Sellers Balancing Recruitment, Focused on Senior Season

Damian Sellers has been one of the many elite playmakers on the Saguaro defense for multiple years near. According to MaxPreps, he’s logged 101 tackles, 40.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks in his two years with the Sabercats.

He’s also got some of the top college football programs in the nation interested in him with Memphis, Oregon, ASU, USC, Washington, Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU, Michigan, Utah, Alabama, Penn State, Florida, Wisconsin, Auburn, Purdue, Arizona, Kansas, Texas, UCLA and Nebraska all extending offers.

Even though he’s had a busy recruitment, he wants to remain focused on his Saguaro team.

“It’s been crazy,” Sellers said. “I’m looking at my (recruitment), but I’m also trying to keep grinding so I’m staying focus on my team, looking forward to next season.”

Sellers has visited multiple in recent months on his own and playing with the 2020 Elite 7-on-7 team. He said he is trying to coordinate visits to Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida, LSU among others in the coming months. 

 

“It’s good because you’re working against each other, so you’re making each other better,” Sellers said. “At the same time you get to be around these great, high-caliber athetes, so that bond is like a family.”

The linebacker is also figuring out his timeline for cutting a list or making a commitment.

“I’m just playing it by ear,” Sellers said. “There’s been some thought in my ear about maybe committing before the season. Not sure yet, but I’ll figure it out.”
