Daniel Hudson suffers major setback

Arizona Sports News online

Everything has been going to plan for Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson for his rehab process coming off Tommy John Surgery. He pitched three extended spring training games and pitched as much as six innings and over 70 pitches in the final start.

The next step for Hudson were starts for Double-A Mobile. He made his first start back on June 4th for the BayBears and according to reports, he was clocked at 95 MPH in the first innings. But in the second inning, Hudson began to feel stiffness in that right elbow and was pulled from the game early.

The Diamondbacks released crushing news for Hudson on Friday coming as a result from being pulled from the game early.

“RHP Daniel Hudson suffered a re-tear of the UCL in his right elbow during his first rehab start at Double-A Mobile on June 4,” they announced. “D-backs staff is exploring all medical options.”

There is no word yet whether or not Hudson will yet again need surgery for the elbow but it is a major setback as he was eyeing a return to the Diamondbacks rotation after the All-Star break. But Hudson has remained positive and has received overwhelming support from his fans.
