DBacks Future Location, Whiz, Herm and Cardinals…

Are the Arizona Diamondbacks looking to the South in their stadium search? The answer from my understanding is “Yes”.
Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park(formerly Firebird Raceway) is exploring moving further down 1-10 and the Diamondbacks new stadium would be built at the existing 600 acre track location just south of the soon to be completed San Tan 202 Freeway extension by Gila River Casino. Yes, the 101-202 Loop on the NE corner in Tempe could still be an option. Both locations would be great for the Valley, not so much for downtown Phoenix. Stay tuned…

On the court, the Suns have won five of seven. Off the court, one TV newsroom received a delivery of 20 personalized replica Suns jerseys with personalized notes on Wednesday. I would hope that news directors and station managers wouldn’t allow on-air “talent” to parade around in jerseys to curry public favor before a crucial vote in February by the Phoenix City Council to spend $150 million to renovate Talking Stick Resort Arena…

From my understanding, Phoenix Rising FC is not interested in sharing a facility with any of the pro sports team in Phoenix. Changing out a soccer pitch for a basketball court or ice rink isn’t possible. It’s nothing personal against the other franchises. Rising FC will be just fine on their own…

Valley hoops fans, remember the name Connor MacDougall? The Utah Valley University big man, was named the Western Athletic Conference player of the week. MacDougall averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block as the Wolverines went 2-0 last week. MacDougall has traveled further than Columbus or Marco Polo. How about this for a journey. Desert Vista high school, Westwind Prep, Corona Del Sol, Arizona State, South Mountain Community College, University of New Mexico and now Utah Valley University. Good for him for sticking with it. MacDougall will be in the Valley next week when the Wolverines play at GCU…

I’m sticking with Mike McCarthy and Todd Bowles as my head coach/d-coordinator combo for the Cardinals in 2019. Been getting quite a few questions about Ken Whisenhunt returning as head coach. Can’t see it happening. Nothing against Whiz, just feel like that ship has sailed…

Should the Cardinals talk to Herm Edwards about the job? Why not?…

Prayers up for longtime high school football coach Paul Moro, who suffered a stroke earlier this week…

Good for former Brophy Prep head football coach Scooter Molander! I drove around Eastmark earlier this week to look at the new high school that Molander will lead as the head coach. He’s going to have no problem attracting talent to a beautiful new campus by Gateway Airport in the Southeast Valley…
