The commits keep coming for Arizona State. Reggie Hughes and Christian LaValle add to the 2018 defensive class, and four-star running back Demetrious Flowers joins the class on Tuesday.

Flowers is a 6-foot, 210-pound running back from St. John Bosco in California. Flowers is coming off a year where he rushed for 20 touchdowns and 954 yards. He added a receiving touchdown to the count as well.

Scout.com’s Greg Biggins provides this analysis for the #3 running back in the West region:

At 6-2, 210 pounds, Flowers is a power back who excels between the tackles but shows enough speed to run away from a defense as well. He was huge down the stretch for the Braves in their run to the state championship as a junior and should put up huge numbers this coming season. He is a tough kid who can wear down a defense and projects as the kind of back who gets stronger as the game goes along. He has a nice combination of balance, vision and decisiveness. He doesn’t try and dance around a lot or make too many moves, he’s a downhill back who is a load to deal with in the open field.

The Sun Devils are loaded at running back for this season and seasons to follow. Seniors Kalen Ballage and Demario Richard headline a deep group in 2017, and four-star running back and early enrollee Eno Benjamin was a “headliner” to the 2017 class according to head coach Todd Graham.

Demetrious Flowers adds another weapon to Billy Napier’s offense moving forward. The running back held offers from UCLA, Wisconsin, San Diego State, Boston College, Iowa State and Hawaii.

This is the third commitment in two days for Todd Graham and co., and five of the six ASU commitments in this class have come in the month of June. Flowers is the third four-star recruit to join the 2018 class with Hughes and safety Ely Doyle.

The Sun Devils wanted to make California a priority in the 2018 recruiting class, after bringing in zero California commits on Signing Day 2017. They added multiple late additions from the state. So far, four of the six commits this class come from California, and in the case of Flowers (St. John Bosco), Hughes (Calabasas) and LaValle (Mission Viejo), the Sun Devils have earned commitments from players in elite California prep programs.
