For the second time in as many years Desert Mountain High School hired a new boy’s basketball not from the state of Arizona.
The Wolves tabbed Chris Satterlie who takes over after Kurt Keener who left to become the head coach at Gilbert Christian. Satterlie comes to north Scottsdale after coaching both boys and girls basketball for the past decade in Minnesota. He will also teach in the school’s special education department.
Keener, one of the most successful prep coaches in the state of Michigan, had a tenuous one season at Desert Mountain marred with an underachieving team and the dismissal of star point guard Rolando Rhymes.
Keener replaced Todd Fazio who left for the same position at Red Mountain following the 2012-13 season.
Desert Mountain announced Satterlie’s hiring Thursday evening.
