For the past 15 years, the city of Scottsdale, and various venues in the area, have been host to the Desert Mountain softball tournament.
Horizon Park, Desert Mountain High and Coronado High were the host locations for this year’s tourney, which had 27 teams involved, which was the event’s largest ever grouping.
The games started this past Tuesday, and ran until Saturday. On that day, the championship round was played at the Park, along with a final round robin tournament, which was held at the two high schools.
The tournament was very well attended, and showcased some really good teams, all of whom played very competitive ball.
“You like to see the best competition there is,” Mountain View head coach Joe Goodman said following Friday’s game. “You don’t want to play in tournaments with teams that aren’t going to push you.”
It’s good to see the level of competition getting stronger in these tournaments, as well as the increase in the number of teams that are participating as well.
