Forward Savannah Fields had 12 points, and guard Kasey McCravey had 11, as #20 seeded Desert Mountain knocked off #13 seeded Millennium 43-40, to advance to the second round of the Division I Girls State Basketball Championship.Guard Peace Amukamara scored 18 points for Millennium in the loss.
“It feels really good,” McCravey said. “It feels good to move onto the second round.”
Neither team lit up the nets in the first quarter, as just four players – two for Desert Mountain and two for Millennium – scored points. It was 6-5 Desert Mountain at the end of the period.
The Lady Wolves took a 22-15 lead into halftime, and never looked back.
Desert Mountain will head out on the road again, as they’ll take on Tolleson on Friday night.
The game starts at 7 p.m.
