Thursday Three-Dots…
Should an emerging star player have a say in what a team does with a high draft pick? Yes! In this day of building “super-teams” the Suns are 1/3 of the way into the discussion. Having two or three star players in the prime of their careers is how teams can go on extended runs.
Sure, Booker is just 20, but anyone who doesn’t see the potential SUPER-star ability is just hating. How would Booker feel if Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox was the fourth pick next Thursday? What if the Suns decided to trade down to accumulate two first round picks?
The published report of the Suns trade the 4th pick to Sacramento for #5 and #10 would be to my liking. but I am not playing. Booker is coming into his third season and should have input on this pick. He’s the face of the franchise.
I’ve written for two years that the Suns need to move on from Eric Bledsoe and get younger and healthier. Bledsoe is a fine player, but “selling high” on him now is vital for the future of the franchise. Over time, multiple knee surgeries don’t just go away.
Taking a point guard, Fox, Ball, etc. and getting out from under Bledsoe NOW is the smart move. Would Booker be ok with this? I’m not saying that you have to run every move by Booker, having input from the star player on this one is appropriate…
Congrats Pedro Gomez! #Riogoes2Beantown
Todd Graham or Arizona State, who’s going to push the reset button first? If Graham wins 5 or 6 games the school launches him, if he wins 9 in 2017, he’s in demand in the next hiring cycle. Guys like Graham and Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M could be in a great spot IF they win big in 2017…
Jerry West to the Clippers is bad news for the Suns. Phoenix needs some teams in the Western Conference to start to fade so that they can move up. I thought the Clips were heading that direction until the picked up one of the all-time great front office executives. Of the playoff teams in the West, who’s taking the elevator down?…
Bud Black at Colorado or Torey Lovullo of the hometown 9? Who’s your NL manager of the year right now? Rockies and Diamondbacks meet 6 times in the next two weeks. By the 4th of July we should have a much clearer picture of the direction from the front office. It looks like they need one starting pitcher unless Patrick Corbin(The Nibbler) can get it together. As critical as I and most everyone else was of closer Fernando Rodney earlier this season, he’s shut us up. No one can argue with 18 saves in 21 chances…
If the Golden State Warriors want to make a true statement to President Trump, they SHOULD visit the White House and use the platform to voice their displeasure. The reason for so much angst in our society is because of situations like this. Those who just want their sports stars to just stick to playing games need to understand that these well-oiled machines have just as much a right to take political stands as you and I. Protesting by not showing up is the easy way out. Standing side by side with the person you disagree with is much more impactful. Steve Kerr at the White House with a hot microphone could be a monumental moment in sports and society…
