Devon Allen makes it official, Oregon bound

Arizona Sports News online

The Oregon Ducks weren’t even in the picture at the start of this week when it came to Devon Allen’s college choices. He had a scholarship offer from the Ducks in track and had visited Eugene but did not hold a football offer from them in football.

However on Wednesday he was offered by Oregon in football just one week before signing day and two days later, he decided to commit to the Ducks to be a two sport athlete over offers from Florida State, UCLA, Stanford, Arkansas and ASU. In fact he is supposed to take his final official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

“Officially committed to the University of Oregon! #Quack!” said Allen on Twitter on Friday evening.

Allen told Pros2Preps.com last summer that it is the ultimate dream of his to play for a Super Bowl and represent the USA in the Olympics. Both the Oregon football and track programs are among the best in the nation and Allen will have a golden opportunity to begin his quest for that dream on a big stage.

The Brophy wide receiver initially made a name for himself on the football field as one of the state’s top playmakers as a starter for the Broncos as a sophomore. As his high school career progressed, he became one of the best track sprinters in the history of the state. As a junior, he set the Arizona state record for the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles and came a combined two-one-hundreds of a second away from winning state in the 100 meter and 200 meter races as well.

His great speed and athleticism looks to be a perfect fit for the prolific Oregon Ducks offense.
