The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Friday that they have agreed to a three year extension through the 2016 season with their second baseman Aaron Hill.
Hill first came to the Diamondbacks a year and a half ago in a trade that sent second baseman Kelly Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays. He is coming off a very productive 2012 season as he became the first Diamondbacks player to win the Silver Slugger Award after hitting a career .302 batting average with 44 doubles, six triples, 26 home runs and 85 RBI’s.
Hill’s magical 2012 season also included hitting for the cycle twice. He became the second player in the modern era of baseball to accomplish that feat in a single season and the fourth player ever to do it.
Hill’s new contract has been reported to be worth $35 million over the three years.
