The Arizona Diamondbacks pitchers and catchers reported to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick on Monday to kick-off the start of Spring Training.
The teams pitching rotation as well as the bullpen is as deep and as talented as it’s ever been. All the old and new faces were on display for the coaching staff and the many fans in attendance for the first time.
On the first day, half the pitchers had reps off the mound and all of them went through drills and had their physicals.
The rest of the players all report on February 24th, but quite a few were present at the facility including Justin Upton, Chris Young, Willie Bloomquist and Stephen Drew.
Drew took grounders on the diamond for the first time since seriously injuring his ankle, forcing him to miss half the 2011 season.
Kirk Gibson mentioned that Drew looked good but still had a ways to go.
Cactus league play kicks off on March 3rd.
