The Boom Bus parked itself in Chandler for the second straight week. After Chandler wide receiver N’Keal Harry made his commitment to the Arizona State Sun Devils last Monday, his teammate and fellow four-star recruit Chase Lucas did the same.
These Wolves are two of the top five players in the state, as well as All-Americans. Lucas will be playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, while Harry accepted an invitation to the Under Armour All-American Bowl. Before his commitment, Lucas was presented with his All-American uniform. In his speech, Lucas said that staying close to his loved ones was a big reason for staying true to ASU, which is 13.5 miles from Chandler High School.
“That’s one of the biggest reasons I went to ASU. Chandler is in my blood, not just the school, but the whole city: everybody that’s been here supporting me, everybody that’s been to my games, everybody that’s been cheering my name and cheering my number,” Lucas said. “I’m very happy to be an Arizona State commit and I love the city of Chandler so much.”
There have been talks of Harry and Lucas, along with Saguaro defensive back and elite prospect Byron Murphy, committing as a package deal. So far, two of the three have followed that narrative.
Murphy is still deciding when to make his commitment.
“It’s a great moment for Chase and I that he just committed,” Harry said. “Him and I were dreaming about this since we were six or seven years old so it’s a real blessing.”
Lucas and Harry are also following current ASU quarterback and former Chandler Wolf Bryce Perkins.
“For them to go out there and get their post-secondary (education) paid for, that’s the number-one thing for me is the degree, and they are good young men. I’m happy for them,” Chandler head football coach Shaun Aguano said. “The good part about it is I can see Bryce Perkins, and I can see N’Keal and I can see Chase ten minutes down the road. So it’s heartwarming that I can spend time with their families and them and watch their games as well.”
From the looks of it, the left lane that Coach Graham loves to reference makes a direct stop in Chandler.
