Jordan HammNorth Canyon football has caught the attention of colleges around the nation.
Last year, Austin Jackson was the top player in the state, the 30th overall prospect in the country and an Army All-American, and anchored the offensive and defensive lines for the Rattlers.
The class of 2018 has rolled around and a North Canyon star remains in the discussion for top player in the state. Wide receiver Solomon Enis is coming off a junior season with 1,144 yards and 10 touchdowns. He tacked on four additional rushing touchdowns and two interceptions defensively.
The four-star receiver, who stands at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, holds close to 20 offers including Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Duke, Georgia, Kentucky, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Utah Vaderbilt and Washington State.
Enis, the son of Penn State great Curtis Enis, tries to balance football, basketball, track, where the Rattlers were state champions, as well as his recruitment as he preps for his senior year.
“My teammates help me calm down,” Enis said. “Just enjoy the time, have fun with them. It’s my senior year, it’s our senior year. Just have fun with it and it all balances out.”
He has looked to Jackson, who is committed to USC, along the way as he navigates his recruitment.
“There’s a lot of emotions with recruiting,” Jackson said. “One week, you like this and then another week, you like another school. There’s a lot of feelings you can take away. But the main thing is to set up a list of things that are important to you. After each visit and each talk, go back and revisit the things you said you needed and it’s always ok to add more to the list.”
Enis has taken Jackson’s advice and tried to apply it to all schools he is considering.
“It’s more than just the facilities,” Enis said. “It’s the academics, it’s the people that went there. It’s the program itself. It’s not the facilities, not the uniforms. It’s what they have for you.”
Enis said USC, ASU and Penn State have jumped out to him early, but “remains open” in the recruiting process. But his goals for his senior year remain on the North Canyon football field.
“Playoffs, state championship, that’s all I want,” Enis said. “I’m good with all the offers and stuff, I’m good. I want my team to have fun with it and enjoy the year. Hopefully we win a state championship.”
This summer
Enis plans to visit ASU and USC this summer with the potential for other visits. He is also headed to Beaverton, Or. To participate in The Opening Finals at the end of June. 166 of the top high school football players are invited to this showcase and passing league tournament.

Jackson’s future teammate and Mountain Pointe safety Isaiah Pola-Mao participated in last year’s Opening Finals.
