Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (August 15th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

With Sammy Watkins being traded, is it safe to say the Bills will lean even more on their run game this season? “Buffalo’s offense is going to continue to be the LeSean McCoy show and Tyrod Taylor is going to run with the football, as well. Tyrod takes a little bit of a hit losing Sammy Watkins. Again, a lot of dominoes fell when it came to the Eagles, the Bills and the Rams when those moves happened.”

If I’m looking to draft Ezekiel Elliott in the first two or three rounds, who are some nice value backs to target while ‘Zeke is out? “You have to draft Darren McFadden potentially. You have to look at guys like Jacquizz Rodgers who could potentially help you for three games while Doug Martin is suspended in Tampa Bay. You have to look for players who are undervalued right now at the running back position. Say, for example, Rob Kelly. Say, for example, Terrence West in Baltimore. Ameer Abdullah But if you can navigate through those first six or seven weeks and be 3-4, or even better 4-3, you’re going to be in good shape.”

Where are you seeing some of these second-tier running backs coming off draft boards? “Terrance West is going in the double-digit rounds in some leagues. Jacquizz Rodgers isn’t being drafted before the last five rounds in a lot of leagues. There are solutions. They’re not as good as ‘Zeke Elliott but there are solutions until he comes back that you can utilize.”

Any changes in New Orleans with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson? “Right now Ingram is the guy but Peterson is going to see a role in that offense, there’s no question about it. Ingram is going to be the guy, probably as a flex starter. Peterson is going to be drafted, probably as an RB4.”
