Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (August 22nd) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

Is Andrew Luck the biggest fantasy risk of 2017? “He’s got a shoulder injury and the throws the football so he is clearly at the top of the list. He is one of the three biggest risk/reward players in fantasy football right now. This is a guy who has been a fantasy star since coming into the league so it’s a big loss. He would have been ranked fourth at the quarterback position for me behind Rodgers, Brady and Brees. Right now I have Luck ranked seventh and every day that goes by I have to consider dropping him lower and lower and lower.”

Give me a thumbnail on Trevor Siemian in Denver. “You would think Siemian would be better but not a draftable asset. The biggest value in Siemian is in the value of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. I do believe the return of Mike McCoy will help the value of both of those players. Siemian has a year under his belt as a starter so that’s good news, I just don’t see him as more than a match-up based starter, maybe a DFS option against a favorable match-up but I do prefer him over Paxton Lynch with the rest of the offensive options in Denver: C.J. Anderson, D.T., Sanders, etc.”

Would you trade LaGarrette Blount for Jarvis Landry? “It really depends on what your needs are but on the surface I do like that trade. There are reports right now that LaGarrette Blount has not performed well in camp…let’s just put it that way. Wendell Smallwood could end up taking his job. Something that fantasy owners really need to watch because Blount was a guy that had 18 rushing touchdowns and was a top 10 fantasy running back last year. So at this point I would prefer Landry over Blount.”

Is the fifth round about right for Ty Montgomery in a standard scoring league? “Ty Montgomery is a guy who is a converted wide receiver, pass catcher in an offense where defenses can’t stack the box or Aaron Rodgers will carve them up. He is well worth a fifth-round pick. I could see him going as early as a third or fourth-rounder in a PPR league.”

Better pick in a PPR league: DeVante Parker of Jamison Crowder? “Crowder, no question about it. Although I do love Parker with Jay Cutler in Miami. Cutler likes those big wide receivers that can go downfield and Parker is just that. But Crowder is an underrated asset. He had a very solid season last year and just missed a 100 targets in the Redskins’ passing game. I do believe he will have a very solid season and he certainly has more value in PPR leagues. Terrelle Pryor would be one in Washington’s offense and then you have Crowder there at number two, a very underrated player.”
