Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (March 16th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

From a fantasy standpoint, who got the better end of the DeAndre Hopkins-David Johnson deal? “The Cardinals did. They stole Hopkins! Bill O’Brien is going to be the poster child for head coaches who become GM’s. The deal is heavily favored towards Arizona. Look, you know I love David Johnson. I love ’em. He’s a great guy. He’s a great ball player. Unfortunately, last season happened. His value does go up, though. He’s going to Houston, he’s going to be the featured back for the Texans. I really think it’s not about talent there because David has a boatload of it. It’s more about if he can avoid injuries.”

How do you see Hopkins meshing with Kyler Murray? “I think this is a great fit. The Cardinals’ offense is fast. We all know that. He’s got a guy who can get him the ball deep in Kyler. I think Nuk is going to be absolutely fine.”

How about Murray entering his second year with some new offensive toys to play with in Kliff Kingsbury’s system? “I could make an argument right now that after Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes in whatever order you have those guys in, Kyler’s three at quarterback. I mean, maybe you could say Russell Wilson or Dak Prescott. It’s not Deshaun Watson. He took a huge hit. He’s throwing passes to Will Fuller who can’t stay healthy…to Keke Coutee. His value takes a tremendous hit here so Kyler may be the number three quarterback off the board in fantasy drafts in 2020. Incredible for the Cardinals all the way around.”

What does adding Nuk Hopkins to the mix do for the rest of the Cards’ play makers? “I don’t think it changes Larry Fitzgerald’s value because Fitz wasn’t going to be drafted until the late rounds, regardless. Christian Kirk’s ceiling probably takes a little bit of a hit. Andy Isabella is a late-round pick at this point.”
