Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (September 4th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
What is the fantasy value of Alfred Morris? “Three weeks ago Alfred Morris wasn’t even on the radar. Now suddenly he’s going to be the starting running back for the 49ers with Jerick McKinnon out for the season and because he knows the offense of Kyle Shanahan, he’s got value. There’s going to be a committee situation in San Francisco from what I’ve been hearing. He’s someone who should be owned in 100 percent of leagues right now.”
How about Michael Gallup in Dallas? “Maybe the safe play is Allen Hurns. With that being said, it’s a situation where we’re throwing darts. We’re really not sure who the number one wide receiver will be in Dallas. The most upside play is Michael Gallup, maybe the safer play is Allen Hurns. With that being said, I don’t see any of the Cowboys’ wide receivers to put up huge numbers this year because that offense is going to ride through Ezekiel Elliott and based on what they did with their cuts, it is very likely that he is going to see 25 touches a game.”
Are you high on Keelan Cole this year? “Yeah, I love him and actually I liked him before Marqise Lee went down. People forget that he actually led the Jags in receiving yards last year. Really talented player. He started to come on in the second half of the season, now projects to potentially be their number one. They also have Dede Westbrook and Donte Moncrief. If I had to pick one of those Jaguars wide receivers it would be Keelan Cole.”
Is Sam Darnold worth grabbing and stashing in bigger leagues? “Darnold not rosterable at this point…I’d keep my eye on him but the quarterback position is really deep and the match-up isn’t even a bad one against the Lions in Week One. But I’m not going to start him unless I’m in a super flex league, two-QB league.”
Andy Dalton or Jimmy Garoppolo in Week One? “Dalton has Indianapolis and that’s the play because Garoppolo is playing the Vikings and that game is in Minnesota where they allowed an average of fewer than 10 points per game to quarterbacks last year and their defense got better in the off-season. So, as crazy as it sounds, Andy Dalton is a sleeper this week and a better play than Jimmy G.”
