Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 6th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Do we need to start worrying about the Rams resting star players for the fantasy playoffs? “The Rams are in a race for the number one seed. The Saints are right there so you may not have to worry about that. The way the schedule has been set up there are more important divisional games at the end of the season.”
Same question but with Tom Brady. “The Patriots never sit their guys. They almost never sit their players so that’s not going to be an issue. That’s why you end your fantasy season in Week 16, not Week 17 because you really run into the risk of these star players potentially being rested ahead of the playoffs.”
Do you prefer Deshaun Watson or Carson Wentz down the stretch for fantasy playoffs? “Wentz has been tremendous. He had slow start coming off that knee injury and ever since then he’s been good. People seem to forget, because Nick Foles won a Super Bowl for the Eagles last year, Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate both in real football and in fantasy football. When he got hurt he had 33 touchdown passes. He was ballin’. Now he’s ballin’ even more and he’s got Golden Tate to throw the football to in addition to Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz. I like Wentz but I say you play the match-ups with those two guys down the stretch but don’t be surprised if Wentz is the better guy. He’s been very good.”
Another week, another Le’Veon Bell question: what do fantasy owners do now? “If you can trade Le’Veon Bell and get something for him, I would do it. There are so many different things that can happen with Le’Veon Bell…from a fantasy perspective, if you have James Conner, you just keep rolling him out there. If Bell comes back I don’t know if he’d be given his starting job back. Let’s keep this in mind: Le’Veon had a much shorter hold out last year and in his first two games back, he wasn’t himself. Now you’re talking about an even longer holdout. He hasn’t played football in 11 months. Who knows what kind of condition he’s in. He’s not going to be in football shape because you don’t stay in football shape by not playing football. If I can move Le’Veon and get something valuable in return, I’m seriously considering doing it because there’s so much uncertainty right now. He’s not going to come back and get a featured role in that offense.”
