Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 15th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Looking ahead to Week 11, what has caught your eye? “So, the match-ups are odd this week. A lot of the big-name players have really good match-ups and the lesser players don’t have great match-ups but you’re probably not starting them so just be smart and stick with your studs this week.”
With Alshon Jeffery suspended four games in Chicago, who could get more looks from Jay Cutler? “Zach Miller is a guy you can definitely pick no with Jeffery’s suspension. He could see more targets.”
Are you expecting more continued success from the Titans’ offense? “Marcus Mariota has been scoring touchdowns like they’re going out of style. This is a guy who scored four touchdowns last week, three the previous week: two, two, three and three…and that’s just passing the football. He’s been great. He’s had a slow start to the season but he’s really turned things around. Playing the Colts this week, Marcus Mariota is pretty close to a must-start right now. Plus, Rishard Mathews has been finding the end zone which is big…of course, the biggest weapon is Delaney Walker but who would have predicted back in the preseason that the Tennessee Titans have a very viable and legitimate offense when it comes to fantasy production? With Mariota, with DeMarco Murray who has been tremendous. It’s been a pretty nice transformation there in Tennessee.”
You always say fantasy football can be quite unpredictable–no better example that Week 10, right? “Six kickers outscored Tom Brady and so did Brock Osweiler who threw for 99 yards so yes, the NFL can often times be very unpredictable my friend. But it wouldn’t be as much fun if was easy, right?”
What’s your view on Spencer Ware moving forward? “Start him. I didn’t like the match-up last week. The Panthers are just awful against the pass but they’re real good against the run. Look at the numbers. David Johnson rushed for next-to-nothing against Carolina. Mark Ingram. Devonte Freeman. Todd Gurley. They’ve held some really good running backs down but now Spencer Ware is at home, they’re playing the Bucs. He’s a must-start.”
Colin Kaepernick had a big game last week in Arizona. Worth rostering or no? “Kaepernick brings that ability to run with the football and that’s where half of his points came last week against the Cardinals, as a runner. When you have quarterback who can run with the football and, as long as you and I have been doing this…that gives you an advantage. Kaepernick is certainly rosterable. Is he going to continue this streak? I don’t know about that. This week is going to be tough against the Patriots.”
