Every Wednesday during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 25th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Who are some of your hot starts/sits heading into Week 13? “I really like Tony Romo. I love Andrew Ellington this week. I actually think Matt Stafford is a really good play against the Bears-they have not been good defensively. Vincent Jackson: tough matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Honestly, anybody that plays for the Jets right now. You can’t trust those guys.”
Anquan Boldin, A.J. Green, Edelman, Brandon Marshall–need to play two: “You gotta go with your studs there so I would go with Brandon Marshall, no question about it and A.J. Green.”
Colin Kaepernick or RG III this week? “Neither [laughing]. Can you pick up Ryan Tannehill off the waiver wire and play him? If not I’d go Kaepernick I do not like the matchup in Seattle, though.”
What’s happened with Kaepernick in 2014? “Well, earlier this year you have to look at him having a little bit of bad luck–that game against the Rams where if he scores that touchdown, well, he has a very solid fantasy game instead he fumbles at the goal line and loses two points. I remember Anquan Boldin dropping a touchdown pass for him. I remember Michael Crabtree dropping a touchdown in another game, as well. But, overall, he’s a guy I’ve been wrong about over the past couple years because the match ups have been really good. He’s just not exploiting them. This week, bad matchup. He’s done very little statistically against Seattle so it’s really hard to trust him at this point. And he’s not running the ball as much. From a fantasy standpoint, these quarterbacks who run the football, they have a major advantage and when Kaepernick doesn’t run with the football his passing yards just don’t make up for that lack of production.”
Is Josh Gordon already a must-play, just like last year? “Josh Gordon: I don’t know that you can bench him. He was the number one wide receiver in fantasy last year, he comes in and there’s talk about him being limited, so much for that. 16 targets, has 120 yards and this week he’s playing the Bills. I know the Bills looked against the Jets but let’s be honest–the Jets aren’t that good so it’s hard for me to say bench Josh Gordon right now he’s back in the top 10 among wide receivers.”
