Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 29th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
What was your biggest takeaway from Week 12? “This week was a weird week. Things went sideways, especially at the wide receiver position. You saw a ton of superstar wide receivers give you stinkers: Amari Cooper, Julio Jones, Allen Robinson. I guess people need to make sure that they stick with their studs this week and they don’t chase the fantasy points because there were a lot of players who had really solid games based on production, based on points, that you don’t necessarily want to start this week.”
Are you all-in on Davante Adams in Green Bay? “Davante Adams. People are underestimating him. He might be the most improved wide receiver in the league this season. Right now he’s seventh in fantasy points among wide receivers. He’s had a lot of touchdowns. Eight touchdowns. But is he a week-in, week-out lock starter? In some leagues at this point, yes, he is because Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind. He was fantastic against the Philadelphia Eagles who, oh-by-the-way, had been really tough at home before that Monday night game. So Adams is a guy now, in this case, you sort of have to separate the name and think about the production.”
Any concerns with Derek Carr after hurting his finger last weekend against Carolina? “I guess he had two dislocations in his pinky. I know D.C. a little bit because his brother (David Carr) works for us. He told me he’s fine so I’m going to take him at his word and he did come back in that game last week and he did play pretty well. It didn’t look he had any less zip on the football after he suffered the injury so I move forward with Derek Carr who, oh-by-the-way, is seventh in fantasy points among quarterbacks right now.”
How about Andrew Luck? “You play him if he’s active. Just keep tabs on the practice reports. You really have to do that. If he practices Friday and he’s good for Saturday than I think you’re fine. But because it’s a Monday night game, if you have a dead spot on your roster and you want to start Luck because it’s a great matchup, if you want to pick up Ryan Fitzpatrick just in case you can do that. But keep in mind that as long as Luck is out on the practice field on Friday and Saturday, he should be a go on Monday night.”
I know the Browns are on a bye, but what do make of their quarterback situation? “Let’s be honest, RG III hasn’t been a good fantasy quarterback basically since his rookie season. You’ve got to look at the depth at the position. Last week I think it was 19 quarterbacks had 17 or more points. Nineteen! It is insane and some of the names that put up those numbers are not the people you projected to put up those numbers.”
