Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (November 25th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
Have Philip Rivers for the playoffs but don’t love him-who are some decent waiver wire options? “You’re in really dire straits. You’re looking at guys like Zach Mettenberger who’s put up some decent numbers to be quite honest with you. Mark Sanchez. I’m not a USC guy. In fact, I’m not a Mark Sanchez guy. I don’t think he’s a good fantasy quarterback.”
Speaking of quarterbacks: which have good match ups in your opinion over the next few weeks? “Number one is Tony Romo…look at the schedule that the Cowboys have…they have the Eagles twice in the next three weeks and then they have the Bears in-between. The Bears are on Thursday Night Football and in fact, NFL Fantasy Live will be there doing a show live and Jim Nantz will be a guest with us so be sure to check that out on NFL Network…Drew Brees is another guy who has a really good schedule down the stretch, as well. The more games he’s playing at home the better. So Brees, despite the fact he started off a little bit slow, he’s been putting up better numbers. Brees is one of those guys who’s going to lead you to a championship and Romo is the more underrated player…Romo has been really good.”
How about running backs? So crucial for fantasy production–especially this time of year: “Justin Forsett: who has been tremendous. He has been so good…he’s got Jacksonville in Week 15 and then he’s got Houston and their defense can be had against the run, as well. I think he is certainly a player you can look out for. We talked about Eddie Lacy…he has Atlanta in Week 14. They’re awful. In Week 16 they got Tampa Bay…that schedule is extremely, extremely positive from a fantasy perspective. Then you look at LeSean McCoy. LeSean McCoy has two good games in his next three from a matchup perspective. McCoy is a guy who has been a goat for a lot of this year to being a hero and getting you into the fantasy championship in Week 16.”
