Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (December 11th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
What has caught you eye the most heading into Week 15? “The big trend this week is you’re seeing a lot of players who might not have been fantasy relevant and all of sudden potentially having big roles in the fantasy playoffs. We’re talking about Damian Williams. We’re talking about Justin Jackson. We’re talking about Josh Allen. Dante Pettis is another player who suddenly has a lot of fantasy value. He’s scored a touchdown in the last three games and the last time he played the Seahawks, who he’s playing this week, he had two touchdowns. So, I get it. I always tell people, ‘Don’t get cute’ but there are a lot of injuries to a lot of big name guys. Now you have to lean on some of these players who maybe were on the waiver wire two or three weeks ago because of the volume that they’re seeing either in the backfield or in the passing game. That’s why I say in fantasy football, volume is king.”
Speaking of under the radar: what are your views this weekend on Jeff Wilson and Kenneth Dixon? “Wilson, in his last game against the Seahawks which was Week 13, had a monster game. Wilson is someone I would trust more than Dixon, although Dixon may have the better matchup. I just don’t know if Dixon is going to see enough touches behind Gus Edwards to outscore Wilson’s numbers. Both of them are startable. Dixon is a deeper sleeper and a potential flex but Wilson, assuming Matt Breida is out, would be the play for me because I know I’m getting 2o touches in that game.”
Can play two of three in my PPR league: Aaron Jones, Nick Chubb, Derek Henry? “Aaron Jones has a terrible matchup this week. Terrible. Playing the Bears. With that being said, and I get it, Derek Henry had a huge game. Huge game! It would be hard for me to bench Aaron Jones. He’s been so consistently good and I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a bit of a letdown game for the Bears. So Henry would be the guy out of that trio, although I do like him this week, that I would sit.”
Looking to stream a defense: Washington, Atlanta or the Giants? “The Giants defense has played very well and this week they have the Titans. I would tend go with Atlanta. If you look at the numbers, the Cardinals are the most-favorable matchup for a home defense from a fantasy perspective and Atlanta [may still] be out there on the waiver wire so I side with the Falcons this week.”
Kicker question: Lutz or Zuerlein this weekend? “Number one: why do you have two kickers? They’re both good but why do you have two kickers!?!? Zuerlein is the guy I play every week. Lutz is very good but “Greg the Leg” is the play for me.”
