Each week NFL Network and NFL.com Fantasy Football Editor Michael Fabiano joins Pros2Preps.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hilights from our most recent conversation (September 18) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
What’s the impact, if any, to Peyton Manning and Knowshon Moreno’s value with Ryan Clady being lost for the year? “I still think you’re going to start Peyton Manning as you would prior [to Clady’s injury]. It’s not good news when he loses an offensive lineman…he’s already lost one in the pre-season but I’m sure John Fox’s number one goal is to protect Peyton Manning. If anything that helps the value of Knowshon Moreno because he is the best pass-blocking running back on that team so he’ll be on the field more.”
Considering Reggie Bush’s injury situation is it wise to grab Joique Bell if still available? “Yes. He is a very talented running back. Remember he had over 50 catches last year and if anything ever happened to Reggie Bush, Joique Bell would be the hottest name off the waiver wire. Line up, beat people to the punch and get him now especially if Reggie Bush is on your roster. Remember Brad, I told you a couple weeks ago before the season started, I love the fact that Reggie Bush is in this offense…but I’m a little worried about his health because he’s never been a durable guy when he played on turf.”
How does Steven Jackson’s injury effect the Falcons’ play-calling? “The Falcons are going to throw the ball a lot more now because Steven Jackson is not in the mix their and honestly [Jaquizz] Rodgers is not a bell cow, he’s not a mail carrier. He is going to see more snaps because Jackson is on the sidelines…he’s going to see more snaps and see more pass catches. Rodgers is a guy who can help you in a PPR league as a flex starter. In a standard league, not as valuable. He’s more of a low-end flex.”
Andrew Luck against the 49ers or Andy Dalton against Green Bay? “I’m sticking with Andrew Luck. The matchup is tough but the 49ers in their opening game really got hammered by Aaron Rodgers. Andrew Luck is a really good quarterback and to me, he’s the next Aaron Rodgers both on the field and from a fantasy perspective. I like Andy Dalton’s matchup. A great matchup against the Packers, their pass defense is just bad but if you watched Dalton on Monday night, he was so inaccurate, it was scary. Tim Tebow was probably thinking, ‘wow, Andy Dalton’s really inaccurate tonight.”
