Every week during the season NFL Network and NFL.com Senior Fantasy Analyst Michael Fabiano joins Sports360AZ.com’s Brad Cesmat to share his insight on building and developing your fantasy team for success.
Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (September 23rd) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.
My team is struggling and generally underperforming–any advice? “Don’t panic…there are all kinds of weird things that happen every single year, especially at the beginning of the season. I remember many years ago Trent Dilfer, playing for the Browns, had more fantasy points than Peyton Manning. That was during his Colts’ days and everyone was up in arms. Things will right themselves…so keep the faith.”
Is this a good time to start looking at trades as the fantasy season has somewhat taken shape? “It’s time to start making trades, especially if you’ve got players whose value is on the rise like Carson Palmer, for example. Like Larry Fitzgerald–two guys with the Cardinals. Also look at players that you can acquire that other people may be freaking out about–like [Andrew] Luck, like Jeremy Hill.”
What trends have you seen, from a fantasy perspective, so far in 2015? “The tight end position is not as weak as we thought it was. Tyler Eifert coming in making an impact. Eric Ebron. So it wasn’t as terrible as we thought it all was starting the season. Another trend: the quarterbacks. I’m telling you, next year I may not draft a quarterback until like the 10th or 12th-round because you had 20 quarterbacks score 18 or more fantasy points [in Week 2]…you can play the match-ups with quarterbacks. If you have [Andrew] Luck, [Aaron] Rodgers obviously that’s a major advantage…to a degree Russell Wilson…so don’t be afraid to start guys. I’m not saying to bench any of your elite players at quarterback but don’t be afraid to start the Marcus Mariota’s and Tyrod Taylor’s of the world because they’re putting up some numbers right now.”
