Here are some hi-lights from our most recent conversation (October 17th) with the Fantasy Sports Writer’s Association Hall of Famer.

I have Aaron Rodgers. Does trying to swing a deal make the most sense to you? “Trading is certainly one option. Even still, you’re not going to be able to replace Aaron Rodgers unless you go out and get Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers is a better fantasy quarterback. One thing you can do is look to see if Andrew Luck is on your waiver wire depending on the size of the roster you have and the number of bench spots you have. If you can grab him and stash him, I can’t tell you when he’s going to come back, but if you have a spot on your roster that you can use to field Luck for a few weeks, it might make sense. This week you’re looking at Tyrod Taylor off the waiver wire because he’s got a good matchup against the Buccaneers.”

Is Ryan Fitzpatrick an option coming off a nice game in relief on Jameis Winston out here in Arizona last weekend? “It’s funny, no matter where Fitzpatrick goes, he has to start. It doesn’t matter. Every team he goes to, he’ll go as a backup, he’s going to start. It’s ridiculous. But they’re going to Buffalo and Buffalo is coming off a bye and they have one of the tougher defenses in the entire league. Quarterbacks have done nothing against them so even if Jameis starts in Tampa Bay, I don’t like the matchup. I don’t trust either one of those Buccaneers’ quarterbacks against Buffalo.”

The quarterback position had depth early but are you having a hard time with all the inconsistent play week-to-week? “Between the injuries and you mentioned the inconsistencies, to the point where you’re not really sure who you can trust week-to-week. I tell ‘ya, even Tom Brady, the starts he’s had have not been that stellar. So, things are getting tougher and tougher from a fantasy perspective and of course, you’re having all these running back-by-committee situations which is driving people insane.”

I can only start two of these four running backs, who do like among Adrian Peterson, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Mark Ingram? “That right there, that’s a humble brag. Flip a coin. To me, Gurley and Gordon would be the two guys I would likely but Mark Ingram was good and now that Adrian Peterson is no longer in New Orleans, he’s a back-end RB1. So, that’s just an embarrassment of riches. I would try to trade one of those guys.
